Team Management
OverlayQA teams let you collaborate with your colleagues on shared projects and issues. Invite teammates by email, assign roles, and manage access from the dashboard settings.
Roles
Every team member has one of three roles:
- Owner: Full control. Create projects, invite members and admins, remove any member, update team settings, and delete the team. There is one owner per team, assigned at creation.
- Admin: Same as owner except cannot remove the owner or delete the team. Can invite members and admins, create projects, and update settings.
- Member: View projects, create and edit issues. Cannot invite or manage team members.
Invite a Teammate
Only owners and admins can send invitations. Open the OverlayQA dashboard, go to Settings, find Invite a new member in the Team section, enter the teammate's email address, select a role (Member or Admin), and click Send invite. An invitation email is sent with a magic link, and the recipient has 7 days to accept. If they don't have an OverlayQA account, they can create one during the acceptance flow.
Accepting an Invitation
The invitation page shows the team name, the role being offered, and who sent the invite. The recipient signs in (or signs up) and clicks Accept invitation to join the team.
Pending Invitations
Owners and admins see a Pending invitations section in team settings. Each pending invite shows the email, the assigned role, and the days until expiration. Click Revoke to cancel a pending invitation.
Removing a Team Member
The team owner can remove any member or admin from the team. The removed user loses access immediately. Owners cannot remove themselves.
Seat Limits by Plan
The number of seats, counting members plus pending invitations, depends on your plan: Free includes 1 seat (owner only), Starter includes 5 seats, and Pro includes unlimited seats. Pending invitations count toward your seat limit, so if you reach the limit you can revoke an unused pending invite to free up a seat before inviting more teammates.
