Client Share Links
OverlayQA client share links let you share a live page or frozen snapshot with external stakeholders for feedback. Reviewers can pin comments directly on the page without creating an OverlayQA account. Comments are automatically converted into issues in your project.
Create a Share Link
Open the OverlayQA dashboard, navigate to your project, and click Create Client Share to open the setup modal. The modal asks for four settings:
- Page URL: The full URL of the page to review (must start with https://).
- Mode: Live site (default) shows the reviewer the current live version through a proxy. Snapshot captures a frozen copy of the page as it appeared when the link was created.
- Viewport size: Choose a preset (Desktop 1440x900, Laptop 1280x800, Tablet 768x1024, Mobile 375x812) or enter a custom width and height.
- Expires: Never (default), 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days.
Click Create Link to generate the review URL, then copy it and share it with your client or stakeholder.
What Reviewers See
Reviewers open the link in any browser with no login or OverlayQA account required. In live site mode they see the current version of the page through a proxy; in snapshot mode they see the frozen capture taken when the link was created.
Pinning Comments
Reviewers click anywhere on the page to place a pin and leave a comment. Each comment captures the reviewer's name and email, the comment text (up to 2,000 characters), the pin position on the page, a screenshot of the area around the pin, and element data (CSS selector, tag name, bounding rect) if pinned on a specific element.
Comments Become Issues
When a reviewer submits a comment, it is automatically converted into an OverlayQA issue in the same project, with the reviewer's feedback, pin screenshot, and element context included. No manual import step is needed.
Managing Share Links
From the dashboard you can revoke a link to immediately disable access, un-revoke it to restore access if revoked by mistake, or update its expiration to extend or shorten its lifetime. Visit counts and last-visited timestamps are tracked for each link so you can see whether your reviewer has opened it.
Branded Client Shares (Pro)
On the Pro plan, client share pages display your brand instead of OverlayQA's. Upload a custom logo, choose an accent color, and set a company name in project settings. Your branding appears on the share page header, on interactive elements, and in the page's Open Graph metadata. Branded shares are ideal for agencies and consultancies presenting QA findings to clients under their own identity.
Active Links by Plan
The number of active review links per project depends on your plan: Free includes 1, Freelancer includes 3, Starter includes 5, and Pro includes unlimited. To create more links when you are at the limit, revoke or delete an existing link first.
