Client Share Links

Client share links let you share a live page or frozen snapshot with external stakeholders for feedback. Reviewers can pin comments directly on the page without creating an OverlayQA account. Comments are automatically converted into issues in your project.
Create a Share Link
- Open the OverlayQA dashboard and navigate to your project.
- Click Create Client Share to open the setup modal.
The modal asks for four settings:

| Viewport size | Choose a preset (Desktop 1440x900, Laptop 1280x800, Tablet 768x1024, Mobile 375x812) or enter a custom width and height. |
| Expires | Never (default), 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days. |
Click Create Link to generate the review URL. A confirmation screen shows the link with a Copy button. Share this URL with your client or stakeholder.
What Reviewers See
Reviewers open the link in any browser. No login or OverlayQA account is required. Depending on the mode you chose:
- Live site mode: The reviewer sees the current live version of the page through a proxy.
- Snapshot mode: The reviewer sees a frozen capture of the page as it appeared when the link was created.
Pinning Comments
Reviewers can click anywhere on the page to place a pin and leave a comment. Each comment captures:
- Name and email of the reviewer.
- Comment text (up to 2,000 characters).
- Pin position on the page.
- Screenshot of the area around the pin.
- Element data (CSS selector, tag name, bounding rect) if pinned on a specific element.
Comments Become Issues
When a reviewer submits a comment, it is automatically converted into an OverlayQA issue in the same project. The issue appears in your project's issue list with the reviewer's feedback, pin screenshot, and element context included. No manual import step is needed.
Tip: Client share links are ideal for collecting feedback from stakeholders, clients, or team members who don't use OverlayQA. They see the page and leave comments. You see structured issues in your project.
Managing Share Links
You can manage active share links from the dashboard:
- Revoke a link to immediately disable access. Revoked links show an expiration page.
- Un-revoke a link to restore access if revoked by mistake.
- Update expiration to extend or shorten the link's lifetime.
Visit counts and last-visited timestamps are tracked for each link so you can see whether your reviewer has opened it.
Branded Client Feedback Portal
On every plan, your clients get a branded client feedback portal: the client reviews, the review portal and the shared issue links they open can carry your brand instead of OverlayQA's. In the dashboard, Settings > Branding sets the logo, accent colour and header background across all of them. A live preview of the client review header updates as you type.
- Custom logo replaces the OverlayQA logo in the share page header. PNG, SVG, JPEG, WebP or GIF up to 10MB; it shows at up to 160 x 28 px, so a wide logo on a transparent background works best.
- Accent colour applies to interactive elements. An accent too light to read on a light page is refused when you save, with a darker colour suggested.
- Header background applies to client reviews; the header text adjusts itself to stay readable on any colour.
- "Powered by OverlayQA" can be hidden on those pages with one checkbox.
Tip: The branded client feedback portal is ideal for agencies and consultancies presenting QA findings to clients under their own identity.
Plan Limits
The number of active review links per project depends on your plan:
